Quader asks BNP not to consider govt’s patience as weakness

Kader1437555449 (731 x 430)GAZIPUR – Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today warned BNP that the party should not consider the Awami League government’s democratic patience as weakness, reports BSS.

“BNP could not wage movement even for eight-and-a-half minutes in the last eight-and-a-half years. The party had announced different programmes to wage movement but their leaders and workers did not come out from their homes to take to streets,” he told a public rally at Bhawal Badre Alam Government College ground in Gazipur.

Quader said BNP Chairperson left the country for London after giving calls for movement. “BNP cannot wage any movement in future,” he observed.

About the next general polls, he said, the people of Gazipur will cast their votes in favour of Awami League again in the next general election.

Terming the forthcoming Gazipur City Corporation election as the semifinal game for Awami League, he urged all leaders and workers of Gazipur to work unitedly in favour of the party candidate.

Gazipur district unit president of Awami League and Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque chaired the function while AL Joint General Secretary Dr Dipu Moni, organizing secretary Barrister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury Nowfel, Gazipur-5 lawmaker and State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroze Chumki, lawmakers Simeen Hussain Rimi and Md Zahid Ahsan Russel, Gazipur City unit of AL President Advocate Azmot Ullah Khan and General Secretary Mohmmed Jahangir Alam, among others, addressed.

Earlier, Quader joined the 548th birth anniversary programme of Guru Nanak, founder of Sikhism, at Gurdwara Nanak Shahi temple on Dhaka University campus.

Addressing on the occasion, he said, the government would extend cooperation to BNP if the party holds its rally at the Suhrawardy Udyan in a peaceful manner.

“But, law-enforcers will take measures if any chaotic situation is created in the rally,” he added.
