Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) can now hold its election for 2024-26 tenure as the Supreme Court (SC) has cleared the bar on holding the election.
SC vacation judge, Justice Md. Rezaul Haque, passed the order after suspending the High Court (HC) order that suspended the BAIRA election schedule on August 28.
“So, there is no bar to hold the BAIRA executive committee election,” SC lawyer Mohammad Siddique Ullah Mia, one of the defence lawyers, told BSS.
Senior SC lawyers Joynul Abedin, Barrister Md Ruhul Kuddus Kazal and Advocate Gazi Kamrul Islam Sajal also moved the plea to the apex court on behalf of the defence.
The HC earlier suspended the BAIRA election upon a petition of a voter. The executive committee of BAIRA later filed a plea seeking suspension of the HC order.
The election schedule for the BAIRA election for 2024-26 was announced on June 25 fixing the polling day on September 14 next.
