‘Gopan’ wins best film award at DIFF

Filmmaker Ashraf Shishir’s second feature film Gopan (The Inner Sound) won the best film award participating at the international competition section of 5th Delhi International Film Festival, Reports, BSS
The director received the award from famous Indian film editor Srikar Prasad on December 3. Actress of the film Kaberi Roy chowdhury was also present at the programme. In his speech Ashraf Shishir said that the award is recognition to the Bangladeshi contemporary filmmakers who are doing well participating in international film festivals, said a press release. The weeklong festival that began on December 3 in Delhi featured 210 films from 68 countries.
The thriller Gapon features a man who gets involved with underground politics and subsequently separates from his wife and daughter. Indian novelist Kaberi Roychowdhury, Sumana Soma, Imran Imu, Labanya Katrina Serajul Islam, Abl Kalam Azad and others perform in the film. Shishir’s first film Gariwala participated in 86 festivals held in 30 countries and bagged 26 awards. The film also got National Film Award this year in the best short film category. Ashraf Shishir’s third film, Amra Ekta Cinema Banabo, is now at the post production stage, the release said.
