Govt to take action against terrorism in line with Syria and France: Hanif

SATKHIRA : Joint general secretary of the ruling Awami League Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said yesterday that the government would take action to contain terrorism following the steps taken by countries like France and Syria, reports BSS. “The politics of killing people by hurling petrol bombs being pursued by BNP-Jamaat in the country is sheer terrorist activities, nothing else,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at the triennial council of Satkhira District Awami League (AL), held after 10 years, at Shaheed Abdur Razzak Park in the town. District AL president Engineer Sheikh Mujibur Rahman presided over the inaugural session of the council, also addressed, among others, by AL organising secretary BM Mozammel Huq, MP, agriculture affairs secretary Dr Abdur Razzak, MP, Prof Dr AFM Ruhal Haque, MP, Begum Munnujan Sufian, MP, SM Kamal Hossain, MP, Meer Mostaque Ahmed Robi, MP, SM Jaglul Haider, MP, Advocate Mustafa Lutfullah, MP and district AL general secretary Nazrul Islam. In an oblique reference to BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, the AL joint general secretary said, “She (Khaleda) doesn’t offer Namaj (prayer) for a single period even but joining hands with Jamaat she likes to give wrong interpretation of Islam. She has sent her granddaughters to Malaysia for their appearance in examination but she retains the call for continuation of siege-hartal programmes without taking into consideration the fate of 15 lakh SSC examinees in Bangladesh. Her siege-hartal politics continued even during the Biswa Ijtema.” Alleging that there is no difference between the militants of IS (Islamic States) and BNP-Jamaat, Hanif said, “In the savage manner the IS militants have been killing people by torching, the goons of BNP-Jamaat have adopted the similar tactics.” Replicating the Taliban strategy, they want to transform Bangladesh into a failed state following Pakistani style. But, Khaleda’s daydream won’t ever be materialised.”
