JU teachers students greets Prof. Farzana Islam for her 6 years journey

Shahadat Sumon,  JU correspondent: Teachers and students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Monday (March 2) greeted Professor Farzana Islam for her second anniversary of taking charge of second four-year term.

Senate and syndicate members, deans of different faculties, president of different departments, teachers association (JUTA), officers, staff and students of the university greeted for her contributions she made to the education, research and physical infrastructure development of the university in the last six years.

While expressing gratitude Prof. Farzana Islam thanked the President and Jahangirnagar University Chancellor Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, Education Secretary and all others concerned.

She said, “I believe in the overall participation of the university body to fulfill the duties of the Vice-Chancellor. I used to appreciate the opinion of the body and want to continued even while the remaining duty.”

Earlier on March 2, 2018, the education ministry made professor Farzana Islam’s as the Vice-Chancellor of JU through a gazette notification for the four year-second term. She had appointed as the 18th Vice-Chancellor of JU by  the university chancellor, Abdul Hamid, president of the country, for four years as per section 11(1) of Jahangirnagar University Act 1973. She became the first woman vice-chancellor of a Bangladeshi public university when she was appointed on March 2 in 2014.
