Int’l Confce on Climate Change begins at DU

A two-day long International Conference on Climate Change has begun on Saturday at the conference room of Dhaka University (DU) Meteorology Department. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman addressed the inaugural session of the conference as chief guest. The Department of Meteorology of DU has organized this event, a press release said.

Chairperson of the Department of Meteorology Prof. Dr. Towhida Rashid presided over the function while renowned meteorologist Prof. Dr. Dewan Abdul Quadir and Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences Prof. Dr. Md. Zillur Rahman addressed it as special guests. Prof. Dr. Tetsuya Takemi of Kyoto University, Japan delivered the Key-note speech. Secretary General of The World Meteorological Organization Prof. Petteri Taalas gave video message. Assistant Prof. Dr. Fatima Akter conducted the program.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman stressed the need for conducting integrated research on climate change-related issues to make the human life safe. This international conference will create a common platform for the researchers in this regard, he hoped.
