October 2021 is a memorable month for Professor Dr. Nurul Islam Nazem as his academic career at the University of Dhaka (DU) comes to a retirement. A professor of excellent repute, at the time of retirement, Dr. Nazem was serving as a Chairman of the Department of Geography and Environment under the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences (FEES) at DU.

Apart from teaching and doing research, Professor Nazem was involved in various administrative affairs of the university. He was a Coordination and Development (C&D) member of the Department of Oceanography.

The C&D committee is a powerful body consisting of senior university faculty members who are responsible for making decision related to procurement, recruitment, curriculum formation, and other vital affairs.

On Thursday (October 28), the two other members of C&D council, the Chairman of the Oceanography Department, Md. Jobaer Alam and the Dean of FEES, Professor Dr. Md. Kawser Ahmed handed him a flower bouquet as a token of appreciation before his transition to the retirement.
