Rampal power plant sets a new generation record

BAGERHAT : Rampal Thermal Power Plant has set a new electricity generation record with 771.70 million units in August.

“For the last three months, the plant has generated over 600 million units each month,” said Anwarul Azim, deputy general manager (Public Relations) of the Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company (Pvt) Ltd, in a press release.

In August, the plant produced 771.70 million units of power with a 78.58 percent Plant Load Factor, accounting for 7.15 percent of the country’s total electricity production of 10,100 million units.

The last three months, the total 2,036.4 million units were generated from the plant, the press release said.

It said the plant, a symbol of Bangladesh-India friendship, runs on imported coal but uses ultra-supercritical technology with modern environmental safeguards.

These include flue-gas desulfurisation, an advanced electrostatic precipitator, a 275-meter chimney, closed-cycle cooling, and a zero liquid discharge system, ensuring clean and reliable electricity production, it said.

“By delivering stable and affordable power, the Maitree Power Plant is driving industrial growth, boosting investor confidence, and strengthening national energy security,” the release added.
