For the first time in Bangladesh, a special art exhibition titled “Shilpir Chokhey Durga” (Durga in the Eyes of an Artist) will showcase diverse artistic interpretations of “Goddess Durga”. The exhibition explores how artists perceive the goddess through their imagination, emotions, experiences and individual creative languages.
Organised by Shakti Shilpajatra and initiated by Bishworong, the four-day exhibition will be held from 9 to 12 October at Gallery Chitrak in the capital’s Dhanmondi area on the occasion of Durga puja festival.
The exhibition seeks to present “Goddess Durga” beyond her traditional religious representation, highlighting the ways contemporary artists reinterpret her form, character and symbolism. Through paintings and other visual expressions, participating artists will offer their own perspectives on the goddess, reflecting different artistic approaches and personal experiences.
Prominent as well as young artists of the country will participate in the exhibition. They include Biren Shome, Rezaul Hoque Liton, Ranjit Das, Nahid Niazi (Nipu), Naima Haque, Maksuda Iqbal Nipa, Jamal Ahmed, Syed Zahid Iqbal, Biplob Saha, Rezaun Nabi, Kazi Sayed Ahmed, Sheikh Afzal Hossain, Manashi Banik, Rokeya Sultana, Kanok Chapa Chakma, Biplob Biprodas, Samsul Alam Azad, Nisar Hossain, Sunil Kumar Malo, Tanvir Mithu, Mohammad Zahir Uddin, Punom Nargis, Kawsar Ahmad Tagor, Anukul Majumdar and Dr Azharul Islam Chanchal.
Other participating artists include Tulsi Rani Dash, Sheikh Mahedi Kamal, Miratul Fatima Raka, Anisuzzaman, Samsul Alam Ennan, Bipasha Hayat, Ahmed Nazir Khokon, Monidipa Dasgupta, Nahida Sharmin, Mukti Bhowmik, Shahjahan Ahmed Bkash, Dulal Chandra Gain, Shorna, Karu Titas, Kiriti Ranjan Biswas, Uttam Guha and Swarnov Saha.
