6,500 schoolgirls brought under hygienic toilet facilities in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI,  – World Vision Bangladesh has brought more than 6,500 schoolgirls under the gender sensitive toilet facilities in two upazilas of the district.

World Vision Bangladesh implemented the need-based infrastructure development program in 24 schools in Paba and Tanore Upazilas with financial support of World Vision Taiwan under Water Sanitation and Hygiene Program.

The facilities are contributing a lot to reduce the dropout rates of adolescent girls from the school during menstruation, said a function arranged for inauguration of a gender sensitive toilet at Tikor High School under Paba Upazila in the district today.

Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Hamidul Haque, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jazhid Newaz and Regional Field Director of World Vision Anjoli J. Costa were present.

Area Program Manager of World Vision Liton Mondal said the NGO has a plan to install gender sensitive toilets for around 3,500 more girls in six schools and four communities in Godagari Upazila.
