Dhaka: Shwapno, the country’s leading retail chain shop, has stepped forward to take full responsibility for the educational expenses of Omar, a brilliant student from Kushtia who overcame extreme poverty to secure top positions in university admission tests. Despite his academic excellence, Omar faced the grim reality of being unable to afford university admission and tuition fees until Shwapno intervened to turn his dreams into reality.

In the 2025-26 academic session, Omar achieved an outstanding 90th position nationwide in the GST (Integrated) admission test. He also secured the 251st position at Jahangirnagar University and 743rd at Rajshahi University. To support his studies and family amidst severe financial crisis, Omar often had to work as a manual laborer while preparing for these competitive exams.

Omar’s journey has been marked by immense struggle. He lost his father to kidney disease when he was only in the second grade. Since then, his mother has supported the family by working as a domestic helper in various households. Defying all odds, Omar earned a GPA-5 in his SSC (Business Studies) in 2023 and a GPA of 4.92 in his HSC in 2025 from G.D. Shamshuddin Ahmed Collegiate School. He eventually achieved this enviable success in university admissions with the help of a local coaching center teacher in Kushtia who provided him with free guidance.

Expressing his gratitude, Omar said, "My education so far has been possible only due to the selfless support of my school, college, and coaching teachers. My family does not even have the means to buy me a book or a notebook. The way Shwapno has stood by me today has removed the long-standing burden of worry from me and my mother. I can now focus on my studies without any fear."

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Shwapno has long been active in various humanitarian activities across the country. Regarding the support for Omar, a representative from Shwapno stated, "We believe that consistent, timely support can bring about a permanent and positive change in the life of a meritorious individual.
