DU to observe ‘Genocide Day’ elaborately

DHAKA,  – The authorities of Dhaka University (DU) have chalked out elaborate programmes marking the “Genocide Day” in remembrance of the brutality carried out by Pakistani Army on the unarmed Bengalis at the black night of March 25, 1971.

Marking the “Black Night of March 25, 1971,” the DU authorities and DU Teachers Association (DUTA) will jointly organised the programmes in limited scale, maintaining health guidelines considering the pandemic situation, said a press release.

The programmes includes lighting of candles at 7 pm at the Memory Eternal situated near the Vice-Chancellor’s residence, observing Black-out program, holding candle-lit program and paying tribute at mass grave at 9:01 pm at Jagannath Hall.

DU VC Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman will address the program as the chief guest. “Black-out” programme will be observed on the campus from 9 pm to 9:01 pm on Thursday commemorating March 25, 1971. Special prayers will also be offered at all mosques and other places of worship on the campus.
