Mahfuj Alam urges pro-July forces to take far-sighted, practical steps

Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Mahfuj Alam has called upon the pro-July uprising forces to take far-sighted and practical steps in rebuilding the state.

"There can be ideological conflicts, electoral competition and various tensions, of course. But, for the sake of the country's independence, integrity and sovereignty, we must unite, simultaneously or even separately, to continue an all-out mass struggle in favor of July mass uprising," he wrote in a facebook post from his verified account on Monday.

Mahfuj said Awami League's activities have been banned but the fight is still on as the cultural politics and political economy of Mujibism must be defeated.

"The social fascism created due to fascist rule must be eliminated. The oppressed people cannot be allowed to become oppressors. Rather, we must stand for the rights and justice of all," he said in the post.

"In the post 1971 period, the Awami League leadership obstructed state formation through Mujibism and bankrupted all the institutions of the state. History will not forgive us if we fail to establish a new political settlement for state formation and building strong democratic institutions in a league-free Bangladesh," he added.
