TBT Desk : US Naval Academy Oceanography department and Department of Oceanography, University of Dhaka (DU) agreed to work jointly on academic activities and research works.

The institutions came into an agreement at an international seminar titled ‘Sub-seasonal variability of the Ocean and Atmosphere’. At the occasion the two Departments also discussed about working on more subjects in future.

The seminar was held at Prof MA Latif Auditorium of Geology Department of University of Dhaka on Wednesday. Department of Oceanography of DU organized the seminar.

Chairman of Department of Oceanography of DU, Jobaer Alam chaired the seminar while Dean of Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences of DU Prof. Dr. A.S.M. Maksud Kamal was present as the chief guest on the occasion. Associate Professor of Oceanography Department of U. S. Naval Academy (USA), Dr. Bradford S. Barrett was the guest speaker and Director of International Centre for Ocean Governance’ of DU, Dr. Md Kawser Ahmed was present as the special guest on the occasion.

The seminar was held in three sessions. The first session was the inauguration and the second and third sessions were technical sessions. Later Dr. Bradford S. Barrett paid a courtesy call on DU Pro-VC Dr. Nasreen Ahmad at her office.
