Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said a dialogue has been arranged with you to hold credible elections by overcoming the crisis of confidence. We want to overcome the crisis of confidence and choose from above. The 4th dialogue of the EC started on Monday (April 18) morning at the Election Building in Agargaon of the capital under the chairmanship of CEC Kazi Habibul Awal. The CEC said these in a greeting speech before the start of the dialogue. Senior journalists, including the chief executives of various electronic media took part in the dialogue.
Earlier, the EC held three rounds of meetings with academics, civil society representatives and editors of print media and senior journalists. “We are in dialogue with the stakeholders as soon as we take over,” the CEC said before started dialogue. I will listen to your valuable words to get your opinion in the continuation of this. We will note your opinion and review it. The roadmap for the next 12th National Assembly elections will be made with the views of the dialogue.
After finishing the dialogue CEC said, we discussed about Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). We have already had a few meetings about this. Since the controversy has arisen. Many have raised questions. But the advantage of EVM’s is that it can reduce the use of muscle power where ballot boxes cannot be filled with seals.
He said it is not possible for us to force who will take part in the election and who will not. But the responsibility will be to call, that you come, participate in the election. Democracy will not develop if we do not take part in elections. Everyone should try for a fair and acceptable election. ‘We are not having meaningless dialogue.
