SC fines Gonoshasthaya Medical Tk 10 lakh for admitting 50 students extra

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) today imposed Taka 10 lakh fine on Gonoshasthaya Samajvittik Medical College for admitting 50 additional students and ordered it to pay the fined money to Khulna Gonoshasthaya Hospital and Kidney Foundation.

An Appellate Division bench headed by Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan passed the order after holding hearing on an appeal filed against a High Court order in this regard.

It also upheld an earlier judgment over admission of 110 students to the medical college only for the academic year 2021-22.

Senior Advocate Ahsanul Karim, Advocate Nahid Sultana Juthi and Advocate Shakila Rowshan moved the case before the court.

The High Court on June 28, 2022, came up with the judgment of admitting 110 students only for the academic year 2021-2022.
