France pays ‘exceptional honor’ to Bangladesh PM: Momen

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has described Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to France as “historic”, saying that the European country has shown “exceptional honor” to her and expressed their keenness to take bilateral relations to a new height.

“No head of state or government of Bangladesh received such honor ever what the Prime Minister witnessed here in this visit,” he said while talking to reporters at place of the Prime Minister’s residence here today.

Highlighting different arrangements made in honor of the Prime Minister during this state visit, Momen said the French President and Prime Minister as well as others gave warm reception with enthusiasm which reflected their eagerness to take bilateral relations to a new height.

He said France had rolled out the red carpet on her arrival at the airport and Elysee Palace and she was given guard of honor at the French President’s official residence.

The foreign minister said the heads of state and government of different countries attending the UNESCO Conference highly appreciated the development in Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Mentioning that a new dimension has been explored in the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and France through this visit of the Prime Minister, Bangladesh Ambassador to France Khandker Mohammad Talha said the world is now thinking about Bangladesh and that is why they have extended cooperation to the country.

Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim, Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen and Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary K M Shakhawat Moon, among others, were present.
