Call for spreading ideals of Bangabandhu globally

RANGPUR, – Noted poets, socio-cultural and literary personalities at a poem festival have called for spreading ideals of Bangabandhu to turn the whole world into a non-communal and peaceful global village.

The central committee of Bangabandhu Kobita Parishad Bangladesh (BKPB) organised the ‘Bangabandhu Poem Festival-2020’ marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Town Hall in the city on Saturday.

The festival, participated by poets from across the country and India, was arranged maintaining the health directives in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic to extend the ideals of Bangabandhu and the spirit of the War of Liberation globally.

General Secretary of Rangpur city Awami League Tushar Kanti Mandal attended the first session of the poem festival as the chief guest with founding President of BKPB poet Nahid Afroz Liza in the chair.

President of the central committee of Lekhok Parishad freedom fighter MR Manju, its Vice-president Poet Nahida Rokhsana and General Secretary Faruk Prodhan, Editor of ‘The Anjolika Sahitya Potra’ Dilruba Shahadat and Indian poet Juthika Das, addressed.

In the concluding session of the festival, Joint Secretary to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Md Shawkat Ali addressed as the chief guest while Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Thana of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Abdur Rashid spoke as the special guest.

President of Lalmonirhat Sahitya-Sangskriti Parishad Engineer Delwar Hossain and President of Debi Chowdhurani Shahitya-Sangskriti Parishad Hayat Mahmud Manik also spoke on the occasion moderated by General Secretary of BKPB Golzar Hossain.

More than 30 poets from the country and India recited their self-composed poems dedicated to Bangabandhu in the day-long poem festival that ended at night with a colourful cultural function.

Many people, including poets, literary and socio-cultural personalities and common citizens, from all over Rangpur division thronged there abiding by the health directives turning the venue into a place of grand festivity.
