Paramount is scrambling to crack down on the Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One trailer reportedly leaking this weekend. Tom Cruise is returning to lead the seventh installment in the long-running action franchise alongside fellow vets Ving Rhames, Henry Czerny, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby and Frederick Schmidt. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One will also mark the franchise introductions of Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, Esai Morales as the main villain, Rob Delaney, Charles Parnell, Indira Varma, Mark Gatiss and Cary Elwes.
Development on Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One was announced some sixth months after the release of its predecessor, Fallout, with Cruise attached to return for both a seventh and eighth installment alongside writer/director Christopher McQuarrie. After initial plans to shoot the films back-to-back, the Covid pandemic would see this plan scrapped in favor of focusing on one film at a time, with the first of the sequels seeing frequent production delays due to the pandemic. With production on Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One having finally wrapped in September, the film is getting ready for its July 2023 release.
As first noted by The Hollywood Reporter, many Twitter users were surprised this weekend when the Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One trailer reportedly leaked. The alleged video reportedly runs for two minutes long, with many posts containing the video being disabled by the social media platform with a message of “a report by the copyright owner.” At the time of writing, Paramount representatives have yet to comment on the situation.
The reported Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One trailer leaking not only comes after the film saw a rollercoaster production but also on the heels of the first footage being shown at Paramount’s CinemaCon presentation. Description of the footage teased another action-packed affair from the stunt-crazy producer/star Tom Cruise, including his character Ethan Hunt holding onto a plane as it flies over a South African canyon, while also revealing the first ever horse chase in the franchise and more motorcycle action from Cruise, including a major cliff jump in Norway.
