‘Bangladesh advancing toward sustainable development’

RANGPUR – Bangladesh is advancing successfully toward attaining sustainable development on its way to become a
Middle-income nation by 2021 and developed country by 2041.

Officials and educationists made these observations at a discussion organised by the District Information Office on preventing social curses and developments at Betgara Bilateral High School in Mithapukur upazila on Wednesday evening, a press release said today.

Vice-principal of Pairaband Begum Rokeya Memorial College Abu Al Baker attended the occasion as the chief guest with Senior District Information Officer Humayun Kobir in the chair.

Member of the governing body of Betgara Bilateral High School Alhaj Nurul Islam, Member of local Bhangni union parisahd Mohammad Helal and local college student Faruk Ahmed, among others, spoke.

Assistant Information Officer at the District Information Office Sabiha Akhter Lucky delivered welcome speech narrating the massive uplift programmes implemented by the government in last ten years in every sector of development.

She narrated positive impacts of massive successes achieved in preventing terrorism, militancy, child marriage and dowry, agriculture, electricity, investments, employments, poverty alleviation and climate change adaptation.

Abu Al Baker lauded the successes achieved in the self-employment and women empowerment, education, health services, family planning and many other sectors improving socioeconomic condition of the common people.

Humayun Kobir discussed the Child Marriage Prevention Act-2017 and other acts related to preventing drug, terrorism and militancy and stressed on creating public awareness for proper implementation of thee acts for building a more peaceful society.

“Bangladesh will soon become a middle income country much ahead of 2021 if we could further enhance participation of women in all development activities side by side with participation f the males,” he said.

Humayun called upon everyone to work sincerely from own position for implementing the government’s uplift activities to attain sustainable development goals for sustainable development to build a developed country by 2041.
