Journalist Sifat Kabir awarded ‘Fellowship’ from Netherlands for PIJ

Sifat Kabir, Senior Newsroom Editor of the English department at Banglanews24, one of Bangladesh’s prominent news portals, has been offered a prestigious fellowship from the Netherlands for his exceptional contributions to the field of journalism, in Public Interest Journalism (PIJ). With a decade of dedicated experience in the sector, Kabir has emerged as a prominent figure in Bangladesh’s media landscape, gaining acclaim for his exceptional work both as a journalist and as the CEO of Radio Sixteen. Sifat Kabir conducted the first comprehensive research on local journalism in Bangladesh, resulting in a published and monitored research paper by the Media and Communication Department of IUB (Independent University, Bangladesh). Kabir’s remarkable journey in journalism commenced nine years ago, characterized by a passion for truth, dedication to ethical reporting, and an unwavering commitment to uncovering stories of significance. Later, he came back to Bangladesh and completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s in Media, communication and journalism. He is also a PhD candidate.
