Saudha arranges worldwide centenary celebration of ‘Bidrohi’ & `The Waste Land’

DHAKA,  – The glorious centenary of immortal poem “Bidrohi” (Rebel), a masterpiece of National poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and landmark poem “The Waste land” written by English poet T S Eliot is being celebrated in different venues in Bangladesh and India.

Discussion on the two great poems of twentieth century is being featured in these functions along with organising the poetic drama titled “The Rebel and The Waste land”.

Chokh Film Society already staged it Shahjalal Science and Engineering University’s mini auditorium in Sylhet. Apart from this, it is organised in the United Kingdom (US) starting from October 2 at Seven Arts Theatre in Leads town to November 14 at Richmix Theatre in East London.

The poetic drama will be staged at Jibonanando auditorium of Barishal University on December 8, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on December 9, Tejgaon College Auditorium on December 10 in Dhaka and at Nazrul Tirtho Auditorium in Rajarhat of Kolkata on December 13.

It is supposed to be organised in different cities in Europe, said founder of Saudha and director of demonstrating theatre T M Ahmed Kaysher.

Saudha Society of Poetry and Indian Music (SSPIM), a leading Indian classical and global music promoter in the UK, is patronising the worldwide centenary celebration of the two famous poems, an official release said.

Chokh Film Society of Shahjalal Science and Engineering University, Jibonanando Research Centre of Barishal University and capital’s Nazrul Centre and RadhaRaman Practice Centre are assisting the Indian cultural platform to organise the celebration in Bangladesh.
