Public Debt Bill-2021 placed in parliament

Repealing the Public Debt Act 1944, the Public Debt Bill, 2021 was placed in the parliament today.

The bill, placed by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, was later sent to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Finance Ministry for further scrutiny and submitting a report within 15 days.

Placing the bill, the finance minister said various provisions on public debt collection, state guarantee and counter guarantee, public debt office,
Establishment of public Depository, Transfer of public Securities, Liability for Transfer of Securities, notice of trust, Payment of Issued Certificates,
Transformation of public Securities, Restructuring, Reorganization, Divide, specific guidelines and the power to issue circulars have been included in
the bill.

While placing the bill, Jatiya Party lawmaker Fakhrul Imam raised objection at one stage. But it was rejected by voice vote.
