DHAKA,  – All the members of Bangladesh’s Twenty20 Cricket World Cup squad have tested negative for Covid-19, much to the relief of the team management. The Tigers are scheduled to leave the country tonight (10:45 pm), but uncertainty loomed over their journey as Oman was hit hard by cyclone Shaheen.

If flight between the two countries is on, Bangladesh team will board on the plane, a senior BCB official informed. But for the time being, Bangladesh received good news that no one tested positive for coronavirus. “All of the members tested Covid-19 negative,” BCB chief physician Dr. Debashis Chowdhury said here today. Bangladesh will set up their conditioning camp for the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup in Oman, where they will play the matches of the group round also.

However, after arriving in Oman, they will maintain a room-quarantine before starting their practice here. They will then travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on October 9. Team’s two members Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman will join the team here as they are now in the UAE to play the IPL. Bangladesh will play two official warm-up games here against Sri Lanka and Ireland on October 12 and 14. The Tigers then again will travel to Oman to play the qualifying round matches. They are drawn in Group B along with co-host Oman, Scotland and Papua New Guinea. Mahmudullah Riyad and co will start their mission, taking on Scotland on October 17 and then they will face off against Oman and Papua New Guinea on October 19 and 21. If they can overcome the hurdle of the qualifying round, they will then travel to UAE to play the Super 12s matches.
