Babita, an internationally renowned actress of the subcontinent, has won the hearts of the audience by acting in hundreds of movies. She is the only Bangladeshi actress to have acted in an Oscar-winning film directed by Satyajit Ray.
Not only has Babita acted in movies, she has also been involved in various social activities from the beginning of the heroine’s career till today. She has also produced movies like ‘Fulshojja’, ‘Poka Makorer Ghar Bosoti’, ‘Agaman’, ‘Lottery’, ‘Lady Smuggler’, ‘Desi Rangbaj’. Babita was also interested in directing movies. She said that interest still remains. Speaking on the phone, Babita said, ‘There was a time when I really wanted to direct at least one movie in my life. That desire is no longer there. However, I must admit that directing movies is a very difficult task. That’s why you can’t direct a movie if you want to. It’s not like I am going to direct a movie, I am going to be assisted by a number of people – and I am going to make a name for myself as a director.
If I wanted to, I could have written my name in the director’s book long ago. But I think you have to know the details about management, you have to understand, you have to learn. Then come the movie management. I am still interested in directing movies, let’s see what happens in the future.’

Meanwhile, May 21 was the 100th birthday of world-renowned filmmaker Satyajit Ray. On his birthday, a special tribute was paid to him.
On August 26, ‘Aparajit Satyajit’ was published. It was published by the Journalism and Mass Communication Center at Kalyani University of Kolkata. Ray’s Pather Panchali was released on August 26, 1955. So the book was published on the 100th birth anniversary of Satyajit Ray on the release day of the first movie.
The book is written by 55 eminent authors from eight countries of the world. Babita, the only actress from Bangladesh got the opportunity to write in this book only because of her performance in Satyajit Ray’s movie ‘Ashani Sanket’. Babita is very proud to be a part of such a book and to write something about Ray in the book.
