5G network will be launched by December : Mostafa Jabbar

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar said preparations were underway to launch the 5G network. It will be inaugurated on one of the Christmas days (December 16 or 12) by December this year. He made the remarks at a webinar titled ‘Five G Ecosystem in Bangladesh and Upcoming Technologies’ at noon on Saturday (September 25). The event was organized by Telecom Reporters Network of Bangladesh (TRNB), an organization of telecom and technology journalists.

Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications said, “It is not a matter of launching 5G in a hurry or with a decision very soon.” We have been preparing for a long time. I can’t say on what date 5G will be launched, but there are many festival days in December, one of which will be launched.

He said “A lot of investors ask if we can afford the Five G.” For this reason, in our plan, there is also a readiness to ensure that the company making industrial products gets Five G service well.

The minister said work is underway to provide 5G network in 5 economic zones. We have many partners and we are thinking about them. All that regards, we have all kinds of preparations. The needs and demands of the people are being given importance around 5G.

Mostafa Jabbar said we have to be prepared for those who use 2G when we go to use 5G. There is no opportunity to look down on them. But we have to keep in mind the digital Bangladesh that we have talked about. Work is going on with the entire population.

Speaking as the special guest on the occasion, Chairman of Bangladesh Tele communication Regulatory Commission Shyam Sundar Sikder presented information on various preparations and plans. He said there have already been meetings with mobile manufacturers. Mobile and tower operators BTRC have been contacted.

BTRC Commissioner AKM Shahiduzzaman, Teletalk Managing Director Sahab Uddin, Banglalink CEO and Chairman Amtob Eric Os, Grameenphone CEO Yasir Ajman, Robi’s Acting CEO Riaz Rashid and many others took part in the discussion. TRNB General Secretary Sameer Kumar Dey presented the keynote address. TRNB President Rashed Mehedi was present on the occasion.
