Sr. Chinese communist party leader keen to visit Bangladesh: envoy

The ambassador said the IDCPC minister has close connections with Bangladesh, as his father had served as China’s ambassador to the country and presented his credentials to the then-president Shaheed Ziaur Rahman.

During the meeting, Kobir appreciated Yao’s role in strengthening Bangladesh-China relations and acknowledged his contribution to the successful visit of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to China.

The state minister said that during Yao’s tenure, bilateral relations had been elevated to the Shared Community level, while several mechanisms, including a state minister-level 2+2 dialogue, were set to commence.

Yao said it had been a great honour to serve in Bangladesh for three years and nine months and reaffirmed that China would continue supporting the country’s development journey.

He also congratulated Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman on his election as President of the United Nations General Assembly, describing it as a proud moment for Bangladesh.

Kobir expressed confidence that Bangladesh-China relations would continue to deepen.
