Barisal incident is moving towards a solution says, LGRD Minister

The misunderstanding between the city corporation and the administration over the trivial incident in Barisal will be resolved soon, said Md Tazul Islam, the Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives.

He said this while exchanging views with journalists at the ministry on Sunday.The Minister further said that people of all walks of life including politicians and government officials are working unitedly under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to fulfill the aspirations of the people of the country. Working together can sometimes lead to misunderstandings, but they can also be resolved over time. The unfortunate incident that took place in Barisal is moving towards a solution. Everyone concerned is working sincerely from their respective positions. I hope this will be resolved very soon.

The local government minister said that according to the information received, when the people affiliated with the city corporation went there to remove some unnecessary posters, there was some misunderstanding with the administration staff members. Later local leaders and the mayor of the city corporation went there to sort out the problem.

He added that there must have been some misunderstandings, which may have upset the UNO. The political leaders may have gone there to settle. The time may reveal what actually happened. The minister expressed hope that the problem will be solved.”

Asked whether any investigation was being carried out as the city corporation was under the Ministry of Local Government, he said, “Initially, since the case has been registered, the police will investigate.If there is a need to investigate on our part, the incident must be investigated if necessary.”
Responding to a question from reporters about the case, the minister said, “I think any aggrieved person is suing for redressal. The lawsuit was settled out of court. If anyone is found guilty under investigation, legal action will be taken against him. He further addressed that the city corporation has been given necessary instructions from the ministry to continue their normal activities.

The city corporation has been asked to be vigilant so that no untoward situation arises there and they are abiding by it. On the other hand, the administration officials are also performing their duties peacefully.
