The Job seekers have demanded that the age limit for entering government service be raised up to 32 as a gift on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of independence and the year of Mujib. The demand was made at a press conference held at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity’s (DRU) Sagar-Runi auditorium on Sunday (August 22).

Speaking on behalf of job seekers at the press conference Manik Ripon said the students in corona are going to spend almost two years out of life. Therefore, I am demanding the Prime Minister to raise the age limit for applying for government service to 32 years in the year of Mujib and 50 years of independence, in addition to the coronation compensation. The Awami League government had made an election promise in 2018 that, in reality, reasonable steps would be taken to increase the age limit for applying for jobs.

He said under the leadership of Awami League government, Bangladesh has become a middle income country and has become a digital Bangladesh. In order to ensure proper utilization of the ongoing demographic dividend during this period of development, it is necessary to raise the age limit for job application to 32 years.

Abdullah Al Mamun, Tanvir Hossain, Sajid Rahman, Anwar Sakin, Akshay Roy, Omar Farooq, Nitai Sarkar, Sumna Rahman, Marjia Moon, Sadequl Islam, Sharmin Sultana, Mahmudul Hasan, Kazi Kamrunnahar and others were present at the press conference on behalf of the job-seeking youth.
