Public transports introduced in full swing

The government has allowed 100% public transport on roads, railways and waterways in compliance with the hygiene rules. As a result, these transports have started operating from Thursday (August 19). Also, after a long four and a half months from yesterday, the tourist centers was re-opened conditionally. Tourist traders including hotels and motels are ready to welcome tourists.

Earlier, the government opened almost everything from August 11 after the restrictions. At that time half of the public transport was run on the road. But no one obeyed. And the government did not have any supervision in this regard.

Therefore, the roads of the capital have been suffering from traffic jams since August 11. However, this time 100% public transport was allowed. Meanwhile, traffic jams were seen on various roads of the capital including Jatrabari, Gulistan, Zero Point and Paltan on Thursday morning.

Earlier, a notification issued by the cabinet department on August 8 said that public transport will be able to operate on roads, railways and waterways with the same number of passengers. In case of public transport by road, the local administration (Divisional Commissioner in City Corporation area and Dy Commissioner at district level) in consultation with the law enforcement agencies, concerned departments, agencies, employers and labor organizations in their respective jurisdictions will be able to introduce half of the total transport per day. Later, from August 19, the recreation center and public transport were fully opened and another notification was issued by the cabinet department on August 12. It is said that public transport will be able to operate on roads, railways and waterways by following proper hygiene rules.

Meanwhile, 12 more pairs of intercity trains and 24 pairs of mail and commuter trains have been launched in the railways from Thursday to start passenger transport in full swing. According to the Ministry of Railways, 38 pairs of intercity and 20 pairs of mail and commuter trains started transporting passengers from August 11. The government imposed strict restrictions on coronavirus on July 23 from 6 am to 14 days to prevent the spread of the virus. Then 23 conditions were given. The ban expires at 12 midnight on August 5. Later, the ban was extended till August 10 (Tuesday) with some relaxation.

The rules of health framed by the Department of Health must be obeyed. The local administration will strictly monitor whether the hotels, motels and resorts are following the instructions of the government properly.
