Public gatherings and entertainment centers will be closed: CS

Dhaka: No decision has been taken yet on opening an educational institution, said Cabinet Secretary (CS) Khandaker Anwarul Islam. He was responding to a question from reporters at the Secretariat after a virtual cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday (August 9). Asked if the government has taken any decision to open an educational institution, the cabinet secretary said, “No, it has not.” It will inform the Ministry of Education.

Asked what the government was thinking, he said, they are talking about what can be done. Vaccinations have already been strengthened so that it can be given to students as well, but let’s see. it will be briefed by the Ministry of Education. Responding to another question from reporters, he said no permission was given to open for recreation centers or similar gatherings.

Meanwhile, the law enforcement agencies have been advising to run half of the buses for some time apparently to reduce the pressure from outside. More vehicles cannot enter Dhaka or Chittagong at the same time.

Asked whether the decision was only for inter district, the cabinet secretary said it was left to the local administration. Every local administration will fix it. DCs, law enforcement agencies member and employers and owners will sit down and figure out the procedure.
