With the spread of the corona virus on the rise, many had the idea that vacations at educational institutions would increase. Amid such concerns, the Ministry of Education said in a press release on Saturday that in the current situation of corona virus infection, the ongoing leave of educational institutions up to higher secondary level has been extended till June 30.

According to the previous announcement, there was a holiday in the educational institution till Saturday (June 12). In the meantime ongoing holidays of all types of government, private pry schools and kindergartens have been extended till June 30.

It is to be noted that the educational institutions of the country have been closed for about 15 months due to corona virus. As a result, about four crore students from primary to higher education are facing serious problems. Many students are going to the upper class with deficit as the class-examination is closed.

How much they learned, it is not going to be verified. Earlier, Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni had said at a press conference on May 24 that the universities would reopen only after all students were vaccinated against corona virus.

But a statement issued by the Ministry of Education on Saturday said that as the Corona situation deteriorated further in different parts of the country and partial strict lockdown was effective in some parts of the country, health, safety and overall safety of students, teachers, staff and parents and the ongoing holidays of all higher secondary level educational institutions and Ebtedayee and Qawmi madrasas have been extended till June 30.

The statement further said that, the students should abide by the instructions and directives issued from time to time by the Prime Minister’s Office, the Cabinet Division, the Ministry of Public Administration and the Department of Health Services. Parents will confirm the location of the students’ accommodation and the local administration will closely monitor it. The head teachers of the concerned schools will ensure that their respective students study their textbooks at their place of residence through the concerned parents.

The Ministry of Education said that all secondary and higher secondary level educational institutions in the country would be reopened on Sunday (June 13) subject to improvement in the Corona situation. The leave was extended till June 30 considering the Corona situation.

However, some student organizations, guardians and senior citizens have demanded to re-open the educational institutions. Recently they have observed few activities in the capital in this regard.
