DHAKA, – Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said the government would not spare any wrongdoer, whoever he or she is.

“Only Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has the courage to punish wrongdoers of her own party. There is no way to escape on the plea of being party member after getting involved in wrongdoing,” he said.

The minister was talking to journalists after attending an agreement signing ceremony for a project for the construction of elevated expressway at Setu Bhaban at Banani here.

The minister said law enforcers arrested Jubo Mohila League leader Shamima Nur Papiya for her involvement in misdeeds. He said actions will also be taken against those who were involved with the misdeeds of Papiya.

The AL general secretary said during the tenure of the Awami League government, the ruling party men, who were found involved in wrongdoings, are being brought to justice.

But, when BNP was in power, there is no instance of taking any action against anyone of their party who were involved with corruption, terrorism, militancy and other misdeeds.

The minister said it is BNP’s habit to make complaints over any issue and this is their politics.

Jubo Mohila League’s Narsingdi district unit general secretary Papiya was arrested on Sunday while the central body of the organization suspended her permanently for violating discipline.

The AL general secretary said Jubo Mohila League will hold its next council soon after end of tenure of the central committee in March.
