DHAKA :Major rivers crossed danger marks at 26 more points across the country as all the four of the country’s major basins continued to rise due to incessant downpours and onrush of water from upstream, according to a bulletin of Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) issued.
In next 24 hours, the flood situation in Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, Jamalpur, Gaibandha, Bogra and Sirajganj districts may deteriorate while the flood situation in Netrokona, Sunamganj and Sylhet districts may remain stable, the FFWC bulletin said adding Flood situation in Chittagong and Bandarban districts may continue improving in next 24 hours.

Water levels at 68 river stations monitored by Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rise while 22 stations recorded fall.
Among the 93 monitored stations, water level at two river stations have been registered steady while water levels at 26 river stations are flowing above danger level, the bulletin added.

All the major rivers are in rising trend. The Brahmaputra-Jamuna and Ganges-Padma rivers may continue rising in next 72 hours and the Dhaleswari
river at Elasinghat may cross danger level in next 24 hours.

The Surma at Kanaighat, Sylhet and Sunamganj, the Kushiyara at Amalshad, Sheola, Sherpur- Sylhet, the Manu at Manu Rly Br, Moulvibazar, the Dhalai at Kamalganj, Khowai at Ballah and Habiganj, the Someswari at Kalmakanda, the Kangsha at Jariajanjail, the Dharla at Kurigram, the Teesta at Kaunia, the Ghagot at Gaibandha, the Brahmaputra at Noonkhawa and at chilmari, the Jamuna at Fulchari, Bahadurabad, Sariakandi, Kazipur, Serajganj, the Sangu and Dohazari at Bandarban are flowing above danger level 110 cm, 61cm, 79 cm, 146 cm, 95cm, 51cm, 48cm, 84cm, 19cm, 103cm, 10cm, 5cm, 65cm, 43cm, 108cm, 16cm, 68cm, 71cm, 102cm, 106cm, 119cm, 69cm,45cm, 16cm,40cm and 100cm respectively.
Significant rainfall was recorded at some stations in different districts during the last 24 hours.

A total of 150 millimetres (mm) rainfall was recorded at Dewanganj, 130mm at Bhairab Bazar, 96mm at Gaibandha, 135mm at Durgapur, 109mm at Narsingdi, 92mm at Jamalpur, 120mm at Nakuagaon, 208mm at Kamalganj and 91mm at Jafflong.
