BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Kanak Kanti Barua led the 10-member delegation. President’s Press Secretary M Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.

“Getting treatment is one of the fundamental rights of people and the physicians should perform their responsibilities with utmost devotion and sincerity so that common people can get healthcare services at lower cost,”
Abdul Hamid said.

Terming BSMMU a specialised and international-standard one, he called upon the university authorities to take pragmatic steps to ensure proper treatment of various fatal diseases and conduct research on the diseases.

“This will help reduce the mindset of patients who go abroad to take medical treatment,” the President said. Prof Kanak Kanti Barua apprised the President of the university’s overall activities, including academic and development ones. Secretaries concerned to the President were present.
