Rasheda Sultana for holding free, fair and neutral election

Election Commissioner (EC) Rasheda Sultana today emphasized for holding the forthcoming parliamentary election free, fair and credible in all five constituencies of the district.

“As the Election Commission is fully determined to make the election free and fair, the commission has already taken all out preparations to hold an acceptable and credible election in these constituencies. To end this, the commission would do everything possible”, she also said.

She made these comments while addressing a view exchange meeting with the candidates, law enforcers and field level administrative officials at the conference room of the deputy commissioner (DC) here as chief guest.

Rangpur divisional commissioner Md. Habibur Rahman, deputy inspector general of police, Rangpur Range, Abdul Baten, police super Md. Kamal Hossain and regional election officer Rangpur Region Md. Azizul Islam spoke at the function as the special guests while DC and returning officer of Gaibandha Kazi Nahid Rasul presided over the function.

EC Rasheda Sultana also said it is not possible to ensure fair election to the EC alone, cooperation and supports of all quarters and stakeholders are very crucial to make the election perfect.

To make the election participatory and to earn credibility, turn out of the voters in the polling stations is very important, she said adding that in this regard, the  candidates would have to take responsibility for bringing the voters to the voting centers to avoid the criticism about voters’ turn out.

In this context, she also assured that the commission would take all necessary measures to provide security to the voters so that they could go to the voting centers safely and cast their votes for their chosen candidates smoothly.

The candidates who are contesting the election, election officials, and invited persons attended the meeting.
