All over the country, bidi companies continue to market bidi with different tactics and fake revenue stickers. This kind of bidi is being sold in various markets. Besides, a class of unscrupulous bidi traders have been marketing bidis by affixing fake revenue stickers without obtaining approval online. Information about these irregularities came out during the investigation of the above matters. In order to get the approval of a bidi company, it is necessary to submit various types of documents including the land deed where the company will be built, trade license, bank account, environment certificate, fire certificate from the municipality or the relevant authority. Such rules and regulations are not followed properly online, so many members of the same family take the license on this occasion. Besides, the government has fixed the price of bidi per packet at 18 taka. Most fake beedi companies are openly selling beedis at 8, 5, 10 and 7 per packet.
Which is nothing but fake revenue sticker under completely illegal cover. Many well-known expensive bidi cigarette companies are threatening public health by selling bidi at a much lower price than the government fixed price.
It is to be that on December 14, 2021, the high court issued a writ petition ruling on irregularities in the Bidi cigarette sector.
On the other hand from Customs and Excise and VAT
A tile ledger is provided to bidi companies to collect revenue stickers. There are details of how much revenue, revenue sticker, which bidis raise. There is also a small amount of revenue stickers. But these companies have sold the market in bidi cigarettes by putting millions of fake revenue stickers. Investigating in this matter will reveal the information of irregularities. For example, if 20 pages of revenue stickers are lifted, the bidi production will be 30 thousand. If you sell this bidi, the profit will be only 300 taka. How does a bidi company operate a factory with this money? This is ridiculous.
Note that a revenue sticker price is about 8 taka 64 paisa to be paid to the government treasury. Besides, it is fixed up to 9 taka including VAT and tax. How bidis are sold there at such a low price. In the interest of working for a long time, an investigation by the Sammilita Journalist Jote has revealed terrible information, the amount of revenue evasion in Dinajpur district alone is about 45 crore taka. The amount of revenue evasion per month is about Rs 4 crore. The survey showed that in the last 20-21 years, the Customs Excise and VAT Department in Dinajpur district collected about 27 lakh taka in revenue. The whole picture of Bangladesh is even worse. It is clear that in this sector, the picture of revenue evasion of 400 crore taka per year has emerged in the country. It should be noted that the number of Bangladesh Bidi companies is estimated to be around 700, but it will be more at the field level. But most of the bidi companies have been evading revenue to the government. The amount of revenue evasion in the whole country is around Tk 400 crore. Meanwhile, despite the fact that there are three institutions of the government to take action against them, none of the institutions have been responsible. National Directorate of Consumer Protection can play an active role in curbing this trend of revenue evasion. On the other hand, the district administration is also not outside. It can be realized at the field level that the role of those who are supposed to be immense in preventing revenue evasion is limited. Recently contacted the Director General of the Directorate General of Consumer Rights Protection and informed about this sector, he said that action will be taken to present it in written form. Meanwhile, the collective journalist alliance is in the public interest
Taking Dinajpur district as Bidi zone as a preliminary investigation in this matter, the matter was informed to 13 upazila district officials who are not very aware of the matter. General Secretary of Bangladesh Bidi Malik Samiti Rangpur, Tarikul Islam Diner and the leaders of the Central Committee of Bangladesh Bidi Workers Federation have commented that the Dinajpur issue of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection has been taken into consideration. fake
Revenue stickers and calls for action against selling at prices below the government’s fixed price. Calling for action against flashy advertising to protect public health. Meanwhile, it is known from several sources that the government is trying to reduce smoking to zero by 2040 due to the seriousness of bidi cigarettes.
