Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said that if the coronavirus situation is bad in an area, the local administration, civil surgeons and public representatives will be able to give a lockdown in the whole district or partial area. In this regard clear instructions have been given. He made the remarks at a press conference after a cabinet meeting on Monday (May 31).

Responding to a question from reporters about the lockdown in some border districts, the cabinet secretary said, if desired, the local district administration can declare a lockdown- they have been told before. For example- Chapainawabganj, but the suggestion came from there.

He said already Deputy Commissioner (DC), Civil Surgeon, Chairman or Mayor; they have been told- if you think a place is harmful then you can do it according to your comfort. All instructions have already been given. Clear instructions are given. There will be no difficulty for this.

The secretary said, we have told other districts that if it seems that the border area should be locked down, not the whole district, it has also been said. That way they will give suggestions.

He added, ‘Lockdown for so long, now it is mango season in North Bengal. What will happen if there is a complete lockdown at this time, these are under consideration, but if I think it is harmful, then it must be.
