DHAKA  – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today expressed her joy after visiting a museum set up on the newly built 7th March Bhaban of Rokeya Hall of Dhaka University, saying that the future could be built beautifully by remembering the history.

“I’m delighted by visiting a museum that has been set up on the 7th March Bhaban of Rokeya Hall at Dhaka University based on the historic March 7 speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Because the future could be built beautifully, if the history is recalled,” she wrote in the visitors’ book after visiting the museum this morning.

Sheikh Hasina said the Father of the Nation in his historic March 7 speech in 1971 in the then Race Course Maidan had called upon the Bangalee nation to take preparations for the liberation war.

“That speech was, in fact, the declaration of our independence,” she said.

The premier said the UNESCO has declared the March 7 speech of Bangabandhu as a World Documentary Heritage. “Through this declaration, the Bangalee nation was honoured and got an international recognition,” she added.

Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh is advancing and will move further.

She extended her heartfelt thanks to the vice-chancellor, teachers, employees and students of Dhaka University and said she feels proud as a former student of the university.
