Former BNP lawmaker from Bhola-2 constituency Md Hafiz Ibrahim has been acquitted from a Rajuk plot scam case today.
The Special Judge Court no-4 of Dhaka acquitted him as the allegation against him was not proved. The former lawmaker was present before the court during the pronouncement of the judgment of the case.
Deputy Director (DD) of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Md Jahangir Hossain filed the case with Motijheel Thana against Md Hafiz Ibrahim on March 13 in 2017.
According to the case, Hafiz Ibrahim took a plot of five katha at Banani residential area providing false information to the Rajdhani Unnayan Katripokkha (Rajuk) when he was MP from 2001 to 2006. He applied for allocation of a plot for him at Gulshan-Banani area on January 25 in 2004 in which he informed the Rajuk that there is no plot, flat, land, lease or house in his, his wife, son or daughter’s names in greater Dhaka City. Following the application, Rajuk on May 8 in 2005 temporarily allotted a five katha plot at Banani residential area.
Accordingly, the Rajuk on December 27 in 2005 handed over a lease deed to him but the ACC found that Hafiz Ibrahim had a four and three kathas of land at Gulshan area on April 10 in 2005.
He took the five-katha plot at Banani area from Rajuk providing false information to the competent authority, the ACC added.
