KCC fixes 172 places for slaughtering sacrificial animals

KHULNA – The Khulna City Corporation (KCC) authorities have fixed 172 spots in the City for slaughtering sacrificial animals and requested the citizens to use those places during the ensuing holy Eid-ul-Azha.

The decision was made at the 29th special meeting on July 25 at Shaheed Altaf auditorium with KCC Mayor Moniruzzaman Mony in the chair.

Among others, Councilors and Senior Officers of KCC attended the meeting. The meeting also decided to form 15 members committee at each of 31 wards of KCC with ward councilor and secretary to act as its president and
secretary respectively.

“A total of 172 spots have been fixed in the KCC area for slaughtering sacrificial animals. The number may not rise as we have already sent the list to the Prime Minister Office (PMO) last week,” said Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim, senior veterinary surgeon of KCC on Thursday.

A total of 200 slaughterers from different Madrasas will be assigned for slaughtering at 172 spots on Eid day, he said.

“A campaign will be run from seven days ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha to raise awareness on slaughtering of sacrificial animals in designated spots and elsewhere in the city. The KCC councilors will also take part in the campaign,” he said adding that Imams’ of all mosques will talk about those during ‘Khutba’ at Juma prayers before Eid.

The designated slaughtering grounds will have butchers, cleaning staff as well as an ‘Imam’ to conduct the slaughtering of sacrificial animals on Eid day.

KCC staffs will be deployed seven days from Eid ul Azha for cleaning animals’ garbage for ensuring environment friendly atmosphere in the city.

The meeting also decided to set up city’s only cattle market in city’s zoragate area on August 16 with tight security and relentless electricity facility.
