Sheikh Hasina works for changing fortune of next generation: Quader

DHAKA, – Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina works for changing fate of the next generation.

“Sheikh Hasina does not do election-centered politics rather she works for changing for fortune of the next generation,” he told the inaugural ceremony of the seventh national congress of Bangladesh Awami Jubo League at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan.

Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the congress of Awami Jubo League, an associate body of the ruling AL, by
hoisting the national flag, releasing pigeons and balloons.

Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said Sheikh Hasina is the name of the country’s most honest person, popular politician, prudent
leader, efficient statesman and successful diplomat. Her development works and achievements have been lauded at home and aboard, he added.

The AL general secretary called upon the Jubo League leaders and workers to make the ongoing anti-graft drive a success. “Say no to terrorism, corruption, tender manipulation, extortion and land grabbing,” Quader said.

Jubo League Council Preparatory Committee Convener Chayan Islam chaired the inaugural session while its member secretary Harun-or-Rashid also addressed it. Besides, Presidium Member of Jubo League Mujibur Rahman delivered the welcome address while Presidium Member Belal Hossain read out the death reference.

Awami League Advisory Council Members Amir Hossain Amu, Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun and Mozaffar Hossain Paltu, Presidium Members Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Begum Matia Chowdhury, Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque, Abdul Matin Khasru and Advocate Sahara Khatun, Joint General Secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman, Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary and Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, Organising Secretaries Ahmed Hossain, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, BM Mozammel Haque, Misbah Uddin Siraj and AKM Enamul Haque Shameem, Liberation War Affairs Secretary Mrinal Kanti Das, Cultural Affairs Secretary Asim Kumar Ukil,
Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Agriculture and Cooperative Secretary Faridunnahar Laily, Deputy Publicity and Publication Secretary Aminul Islam Amin were present at the venue.

Marking the congress, the historic Suhrawardy Udyan wore a festive look. Hundreds of leaders and workers started gathering at the venue since morning. A stage in the shape of Padma Bridge was erected for the congress.

As many as 28,000 councilors from 77 organising districts across the country took part in the triennial national congress of the Jubo League.

Shahid Sheikh Fozlul Haque Moni had formed the youth organisation “Bangladesh Awami Jubo League” on November 11 in 1972 at the directive of
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
