DHAKA,- Russell Domingo’s experience, achievement and his enthusiasm to work with Bangladesh cricket made Test skipper Shakib Al Hasan optimistic about his good prospect with the country’s cricket.

Terming him as experienced coach, Shakib said, he doesn’t see any reason that Domingo couldn’t be successful with Bangladesh team in his stint.

“He has vast experience as he was the coach of South Africa and involved with their development process. So, I don’t see any reason that he won’t be a
good coach,” Shakib said on Sunday.

“We have just started working with him. It’s also matter that how we would judge the standard of good or bad. Sometimes whether a coach is good or bad depends on the result,” he pointed.

“Sometimes it is seen that the coach is good but his result is not good with a particular team. Sometimes a team can do well even under a bad coach.
So it’s tough to say what he will do or how he will fare. But he has come here to give his best. I have heard that he was too keen to work with
Bangladesh team. Even Papon bhai (BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon) told me that he has massive interest to work with Bangladesh.”

Shakib, however, believes that when a coach shows his massive interest, it’s a good sign for a team with whom he is working.

“He believes that the future of Bangladesh cricket is very good and that’s why he has come here. So, I think it’s a very good sign that a coach showed
his interest and since he was keen to come here, I believe he will do better,” Shakib concluded.
