Following its successful debut in the capital, acclaimed singer and music composer Bappa Mazumder is set to perform his solo concert in the port city of Chattogram. Titled ‘Moonlit Melodies’, the concert will take place on November 20 at Radisson Blu Chattogram.
The first edition of ‘Moonlit Melodies’ was held on October 9 at the Krishibid Institution auditorium in Dhaka, where it received an enthusiastic response from audiences. Building on that success, the second edition is now being organised in Chattogram, giving fans another opportunity to enjoy Bappa’s timeless songs performed live.
According to Bappa Mazumder, ‘Moonlit Melodies’ holds a special place in his musical career. The concert allowed him to present his creations to audiences in a new way and receive their affection. He sees the second edition as an added source of joy, noting that such opportunities are rare. Over the course of his three-and-a-half-decade musical journey, he had performed only two solo concerts before ‘Moonlit Melodies’ marked his third. The upcoming Chattogram event will be his fourth solo concert and the second edition of the series. He said he would strive to make every moment of the concert memorable through music.
Bappa also recalled that he first took the stage for a solo concert in 2022, receiving an overwhelming response from the audience. In 2024, he performed his second solo concert, titled ‘Odyssey’, which was also a success. He hopes the second edition of ‘Moonlit Melodies’ will become another memorable experience for music lovers.
Always seeking to introduce something new, Bappa held ‘Moonlit Melodies’ on October 9 after a gap of two and a half years. It was his third solo concert.
Meanwhile, on July 12 this year, eight young singers and music composers organised a special musical evening titled ‘Celebrating Bappa Mazumder’ at Jatra Biroti in Banani, Dhaka. With Bappa seated as the guest of honour, singers Elita Karim, Shuvo (of D’Rockstar), Farhin Khan Joyita, Joy Shahriar, Khaiyam Sanu Sandhi, Yusuf Ahmed Khan, Karishma Sanu Shovvota and Imtiaz Saurav performed some of his timeless songs. Bipu, Riyad, Nipu and Rimon accompanied them on instruments.
The event was organised as a tribute to Bappa Mazumder. The young artistes said his distinctive approach and innovative creations had inspired countless musicians like themselves, making a tribute to the celebrated singer a timely gesture.
Alongside concert preparations, Bappa has been busy working on new music. His latest solo track, ‘Jodi Kokhono’, was released recently. He co-wrote the lyrics with lyricist Shahan Kobond, while composing and arranging the music himself. The song was released on his own YouTube channel under the Agnileela Records banner.
Earlier, in August and July, respectively, Bappa released two distinctive solo tracks, ‘Gole Jaowa Shomoy’ and ‘Buro Nabiker Golpo’, drawing listeners’ attention. He also earned praise for ‘Anayase’, a Bengali ghazal he recorded as a duet with legendary singer Runa Laila.
In addition to performing at stage shows across the country, Bappa has been in the spotlight for his playback singing and musical arrangement of ‘Ekhane Keu Nei’ for Masud Hasan Uzzal’s film ‘Bonolota Sen’.
He has also paid tribute to legendary musicians through new arrangements of their iconic songs. To honour Lucky Akhand, he lent his voice to ‘Ei Neel Monihar’, while on Ayub Bachchu’s birth anniversary, he revisited the late musician’s immortal song ‘Rupali Guitar’ with a fresh musical arrangement.
