BD eve team takes on Ireland in 1st T20 tomorrow

DHAKA – Bangladesh women’s cricket team will take on Ireland in the first T20 of the three-match series scheduled to be held tomorrow (Thursday) at Dublin. The match kicks off at 7 pm (BST).

The second and final matches between the two sides will be held on June 29 and July 1 respectively at the same venue. Earlier, on Sunday, Salma Khatun and her troops flew off to Ireland to take part series against ahead of their ICC Women’s World T20 qualifier campaign in the Netherlands.

The Tigresses are surely boosted with confidence after their triumph in the Asia Cup T20 earlier this month and will hope to use that edge to secure a place in the ICC Women’s World T20 tournament in West Indies in November.

After the series against Ireland the eve cricket team will depart for the Netherlands on July 3.

Prior to their departure for Ireland, skipper Salma expressed her high hope about qualifying for the game’s flagship event while adding that becoming the champions of Asia bolstered the team’s confidence.

She said they are hopeful to qualify for the World T20 showing their best performance in Ireland. She said they had a very good tournament in Malaysia [Asia Cup] and later they underwent a training camp for 4 to 5 days where they worked on their lacking and improved as well.

In the qualifier campaign, Tigresses will take on Scotland in an official warm-up game on July 4 before they face Papua New Guinea on July 7 in Amstelveen, a province in the Netherlands.

Bangladesh will then take on the Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates in the following two group games on July 8 and 10 respectively. SQUAD: Salma Khatun, Rumana Ahmed, Nigar Sultana, Fargana Haque, Khadija-
