Youths expressing their solidarity for a comprehensive road safety law

The youth expressed solidarity with the demands of the Road Safety Act to ensure the safety of all on the road. The youth members of Ahsania Mission YOUTH Forum for Health and Wellbeing and the health service providers of Health Sector expressed their solidarity on Saturday (June 29) at 11:00 am in front of playground in Shyamoli, Dhaka, organized by Dhaka Ahsania Mission Health Sector.
The youth says, the present law the Road Transport Act-2018 is basically the Motor Vehicle Act. Where the fitness of the motor vehicle, license, route permit and fines for violating the law have been prioritized. This Act is ignorant about the safety of road users. Therefore, the youths and other participants demanded the formulation of a comprehensive road safety law and the law should be framed in the light of the UN Safe System Approach. Besides, to observe the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking and to ensure safety on the road, youth urged everyone, including the driver, to refrain from consuming drugs or intoxicating substances.
Before, the solidarity event, a small discussion meeting was held in the training room, Health Sector, Shyamoli where the Deputy Director of DAM Health Sector Md. Mukhleshur Rahman, FSWI Program Manager Md. Kamruzzaman, Road Safety Project Coordinator Sharmeen Rahman and Ahsania Mission YOUTH Forum for Health and Wellbeing’s coordinator Marjana Muntaha were present at the meeting and shared the imporatance of the comprehensive road safety law with the other youths and students from various universities.
