DHAKA- Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan praised his boys’ impressive performance following his side’s historic victory over West Indies on Saturday.

Being extremely satisfied and overwhelmed Shakib said it was an outcome of total team effort.

He was speaking at a post match presentation ceremony at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur yesterday.

Bangladesh, after winning the first match by 64 runs of the two-match series, crushed Windies by an innings and 184 runs in the second and final Test.

It was completely a team performance by the home side where they defeated the visitors in both bowling and batting departments. Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan pointed it out in the post-match presentation ceremony by saying : “I and the coaching staff asked exactly this from the team and this was our plan. We did the process right and we did well in every department. I can’t ask more off the team. I was demanding in the two Tests, and everyone stepped up,” he said.

The ace all rounder said, “Overall a very good team effort. We saved runs in the field that put a lot of pressure on the WI. And every time the batsmen got in, they made it count. All four spinners were great, especially Miraz, the way he bowled today was fantastic.”

Meanwhile, Shakib praised the debutant Shadman and Nayeem who made their debut in the first Test. Although Nayeem could not get a wicket in the second Test, his bowling was economical. “Nayeem bowled really well in both Tests, even though the wickets column doesn’t show it. Shadman showed good temperament and proved that he can do well in the international arena,” he concluded.

West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite said: “I think our bowlers bowled well, Gabriel in the first Test, Hetmyer batted well, Dowrich in the first innings [batted well too]. We needed big partnerships. Test cricket is meant
to be tough, so you need to stay tough.” On the ODI series: I cannot say much about that but the key is to remain positive.”
