USTC Celebrated Their Grand 5th Convocation

In a grand ceremony, the 5th Convocation of the University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC) was held on 3rd May (Wednesday) at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center.

Hon’ble Chancellor, His Excellency President Md. Sahabuddin’s nominated representative, Hon’ble Deputy Minister, Ministry of Education, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, MP, presided over the convocation and conferred the degrees.  Honourable President of Multimedia University Malaysia (MMU) Prof. Dato’ Dr Mazliham Mohd Su’ud delivered the convocation speech. Honourable Chairman of Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) Professor Dr Mezbahuddin Ahmed, Honorary Member Professor from Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC), Md. Sajjad Hossain and Professor Dr Biswajit Chanda were also present in the grand ceremony. The event was also attended by VC Professor Dr. Jahangir Alam, Pro VC Prof. Dr. Nowshad Amin and Registrar Dilip Barua. 

The chief guest said to the dear students, “You should not think that education is over with traditional graduation and post-graduation in the current context, you have to have a lifelong learning mentality. You have to take work-oriented education, learn to use technology and acquire linguistic communication skills. Only then you can be successful in your life and realize the goal of making smart Bangladesh of the Hon’ble Prime Minister.” He added that, “I have seen many successful jobbers and big enterprises who did not study technology but acquired knowledge about technology through personal initiative and became successful in their work field. So today My advice to you is to acquire technical skills.”

According to the sources of the university authorities, 1 thousand 565 students registered for this year’s convocation of USTC and a total of 84 graduates were given gold medals.

It is to be noted that USTC first started on May 13, 1989.  Since then, the educational institution has been working with the determination to play a role in the education system and economy of Bangladesh.
