8,000 farmers to get agri-incentives in Naogaon

NAOGAON,  – The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) will distribute seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agricultural incentives among 8,000 small and marginal farmers of the district. According to the DAE, the distribution of fertilizers and wheat seeds will start very soon.

The agricultural stimulus will be distributed free of cost under the agricultural incentive and rehabilitation programme in the current Rabi season with a view to increasing wheat crop production.

Deputy Director of DAE Md. Shamsul Wadud said that BARI-30 variety of wheat is the most cultivated crop in the district including BARI-32, BARI-33 and BARI-28 varieties of wheat. The present government is farmer-friendly one as it has taken various steps for development of agriculture, he added.

According to the DAE, a total of 22,790 hectares of land will be wheat cultivated, 855 hectares in Sadar upazila, 650 hectares in Raninagar upazila, 365 hectares in Atrai upazila, 865 hectares in Badalgachhi upazila, 656 hectares in Mohadevpur upazila,

1,810 hectares in Patnitala upazila, 1610 hectares in Dhamoirhat upazila, 5,000 hectares in Sapahar upazila, 4,590 hectares in Porsha upazila, 2,140 hectares in Manda upazila and 4,260 hectares in Niamatpur upazila of the district.

It is expected to produce 69,939 tonnes of wheat in the district this Rabi season. A total of 8,000 farmers will be given 20 kgs of seeds, 10 kgs of DAP and 10 kgs of MOP fertilizer for one bigha of land free of cost each.
