SYLHET: Bangladesh batter Towhid Hridoy said his side won't
leave any stone unturned to win the second Test against West Indies and level
the series.
West Indies left Bangladesh facing an uphill task, after reaching 345-3 at
stumps on Day 4. The visiting batters unwavering resolve helped the side take
315 runs lead and made West Indies only team realistically to push for a
victory.
But Hridoy looked adamant in chasing anything they got.
The batter who struck a monumental 242 not out on Day 3 to give Bangladesh a
30-run lead from the dire strait in the first innings said the wicket
remained good for batting still and so he believed Bangladesh could chase a
target of around 350 runs if they made a solid start.
"The start will be very important," he said. "If we can start well, I think a
target of 350 is achievable. But first, we have to see how many runs they
score and then plan accordingly."
West Indies put on 356 in the first innings and appeared set for a big first
innings lead, leaving Bangladesh at 184-7. However, Hridoy played an innings
of ages and added 202 runs with lower order batters Taijul Islam and Taskin
Ahmed to edge Bangladesh ahead.
Bangladesh bowlers however couldn't make impact in a lifeless pitch on Day 4,
allowing West Indies to regain the control of the Test.
Recalling his epic knock, Hridoy said: "I didn't think about whom I was
surpassing or what I might achieve. I just tried to fight as much as possible
to take the team to a good position."
"I was set, having a good day and feeling good with the bat, so I tried to
contribute as much as I could for the team."
